With JW Robert Chacone in the East, Mr. William Joseph McGinn, Jr. was escorted into the Lodge by the Senior Deacon and Stewards. B Robert Chacone gave the Obligation to the candidate at the Altar. WB Roger Cathel also presented the Lambskin Apron to the candidate at the Altar. WM Dewey Goering continued the degree work in the East. B Dan Dailey then presented the Working Tools to the candidate in the East. B Brian Lundquist gave the Charge to the candidate in the East. WB Roger Cathel and B Spence Bentley gave the Lecture Questions and Answers to the candidate. The Degree concluded with a Slide Lecture by B Chris Sizemore.

Shan, Keystone Lodge No. 80, Solon, Maine. READING OF MINUTES: Minutes of the last meeting were approved as read on motion of B Dennis Deforest, seconded by WB Roger Cathel and passed by vote of the members present. READING OF COMMUNICATIONS: MWGM John J. Mangens letter on new petition forms and background checks was read to the membership. OLD BUSINESS: Installation of Officers for the Great Falls Lodges was held Saturday, August 14th on the first floor of the Masonic Temple at 1:00 P.M. Thomas M. Duffy, RW Senior Grand Warden officiated. Thanks to B David Foscue for preparing lunch open to the public, for the Brothers and guests, B Mark Widseth was installed as Euclid Lodge Tyler. He was unable to attend the official ceremonies. Thanks to Treasurer B Gene Harrison for his efforts the past several years. He will be moving with his family to Reno, Nevada, for a new job opportunity.
NEW BUSINESS: The Finance Committee recommended a $5.00 increase in dues to cover expenses. Total dues, including Temple rent, would be increased to $90.00 a year starting in 2011 with approval by the membership.
READING OF BILLS: The bills are being paid over the summer by previous resolution as follows: Warrant No. 4664 The Grand Lodge of Montana, 8/3 supplies invoice #957464 - $113.50. Warrant No. 4665 Roger Cathel, reimburse for 2003 Centennial Masonic coins - $255.00. Warrant No. 4666 Hassan Grotto, donation - $300.00.
READING OF PETITIONS: Petitions were read for Mr. Kris John Leo Cron and Jeremy Dewayne Wilson for Degrees/Initiation into Euclid Lodge. The requests will be forwarded to the Investigating Committee for approval. We received a petition for Dual membership from B Travis Ryan Conger, Valley Hi Lodge No. 1407, San Antonio, Texas. The request will be forwarded to the Texas Grand Lodge for a Certificate of Good Standing. We received a petition for Plural Membership from Brother Robert M. Hames, Life member of Livingston Lodge #32. This has been confirmed by the Montana Grand Lodge. BALLOTING: B. Robert M. Hames was elected to become a member of Euclid Lodge. Brother Bob was in attendance tonight and was congratulated by Brothers. He is also active in The Scottish Rite & Bannack Lodge #l. SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: B Chris Sizemores daughter will be having surgery; B David Foscues wife Lisa, who recently had surgery and Rod & Shirley Johnson please keep all in your prayers. Euclid Lodge Calendar: August 21, Saturday Hassan Grotto 2nd annual cookout/party; 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Moose Club in Black Eagle. - There will be donated items to bid on, live music and the bar will be open. September 7, Tuesday Dinner 6:30 P.M. and short Lodge meeting to follow; Fellowship night with other Masonic - organizations invited to attend and participate in an open meeting. September 21. Tuesday Stated meeting 7:30 P.M., ballot on Amendment to the By-Laws for a small dues increase. - Post cards are being mailed to notify members of the proposed change. READING OF COMMUNICATIONS: We received a thank you letter from CASA-CAN for being a sponsor of their 2nd annual Golf Scramble at Anaconda Hills Golf Course on July 11, 2010. OLD BUSINESS: The Bikes for Books program sponsored the Montana Grand Lodge, was very successful again this past year. The Brothers worked very hard on the program, with at least 12 public Elementary Schools contacted and 33 bikes awarded to the students. WM Shane Kohler was presented the Master Builders Award, which was given to Euclid Lodge at the 144th Annual Communication in Missoula, with all items completed for the second time in state awards history. NEW BUSINESS: We received the Grand Lodge Summary of the 144th Annual Communication. The resolution submitted by Euclid Lodge Amending Section 620 to add Treasurers to the list of those elected officers entitled to vote was approved/Holdover to 145th Annual Communication. Also the Grand Lodge Per-Capita & Reinstatement Fee was increased to $29.85 for 2010-2011 (was $27.85). READING OF BILLS: The bills are being paid over the summer by previous resolution as follows: Warrant No. 4662 Dan Schulz, Bikes for Books purchases at Wal-Mart -$300.00. Warrant No. 4663 Jim Peretti, Bikes for Books purchases - $293.91. Note: We still have several hundred dollars of credit remaining on two Wal-Mart credit cards for Bikes. SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: None. READING OF COMMUNICATIONS: A letter was read from MWGM Thomas L. Lund in response to a recent incident and resulting inquiry regarding possessing weapons in a Lodge. His response is found in our ritual (the Vigilante Days and Ways). His decision as Grand Master is that the carrying of weapons into a Montana Lodge is not allowed. OLD BUSINESS: Proxy cards are being given to two of the Brothers attending the Grand Lodge communication in Missoula this month, which will allow them to vote in place of Officers not attending. B John Deyo reports the Temple board has been working in the basement and needs a dishwasher in the kitchen.
NEW BUSINESS: Senior Steward Rob Smith and family will be moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in July, where his wife will be working as a surgical nurse. Brother Rob has been great in the Lodge, helping in the kitchen and with his Steward duties. Grandpa Bill Austin is a Dual Member of Euclid Lodge. He and Kathy will now have to visit New Mexico to see the Grandkids.B Tad Kimmet will be getting hitched Saturday, July 31st at Holy Spirit Church, with reception at the Elks Club. Lets give our new brother and bride a big send off. (drive carefully, probably lots of police officers in attendance). OLD BUSINESS: B Chris Sizemore advises the Bikes for Books program will be completed soon, with bikes being awarded to the lucky students prior to the end of the Elementary Public School year.B Dewey Goering advises we have completed requirements for the Master Builder Award which will be presented to qualifying Lodges at the upcoming Annual Communication in Missoula. NEW BUSINESS: Installation of Officers: The Grand Master advises that Saturday August 14, 2010 will be the date for the Great Falls Lodges installation of officers for the 2010/2011 Masonic Year. A Lunch will be served at, noon, with the installation on the 1st floor at 1:00 pm. This is an open installation with the public invited. Roger admitted himself, due to a possible slight stroke or numbness on one side. We wish Roger the very best for all he does for the Lodge, as Secretary of York Rite, reestablishing Hassan Grotto in Great Falls, and cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at the Lodge. OLD BUSINESS: B Dennis Deforest reported on the Education and Americanism dinner held Monday, March 29th. 12 of 32 newly tenured teachers invited were able to attend, along with their guests. The student speaker from the Great Falls High School was awarded a $250.00 scholarship. The dinner speaker was Dr. Darrell G. Beauchamp, CMR Museum Executive Director. He is an internationally recognized speaker on the advantages of public education in the United States.NEW BUSINESS: The highway cleanup in conjunction with The Rainbow Girls, is currently planned for Saturday, May 22nd. The area covered by both groups is the Truck-bypass from 10th Ave. S. to 38th St. N. An audit of the membership on the ROLLS program now calculates our 2009 Lodge membership as 129 in lieu of 127 as shown on the report (We owe an additional $55.70 per-capita.) OLD BUSINESS: The Bikes for Books is continuing to go well, with another donation from a Brother, with total donations enough to now cover expenses, along with $750.00 from Grand Lodge. B Chris Sizemore reports 10 Elementary Schools are in the program with Euclid Lodge at the present time. WB Roger Cathel reported building improvements on the first floor & windows in the east side 3rd floor. NEW BUSINESS: WB Roger Cathel reports York Rite will meet Friday and Saturday, March 26th and 27th at the Masonic Temple for degree work. This will include Council No. 4 and Black Eagle Commandery No. 8. Lodge discussions included protocol for MWGM Thomas L. Lunds visit at our next meeting, Tuesday, April 6th.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: WB Chester Rogers has been in the hospital for some surgery and is now back home. We hope WB Chester is back in his home workshop making clocks and plaques very soon.
OBITUARIES: WB William G. Sigler passed away unexpectedly at his home in Great Falls today, of natural causes. Bill was a Past Master of the Fairfield Lodge (since closed) and was a current Life Member of Cascade #34 and Euclid #58 in Great Falls. Bill was very generous of his time and donations to Masonic organizations. He entered data for both the LODGEICAL and ROLLS programs for the Great Falls Lodges and was the current TRS/INST Cascade #34. No services were held at his request.

NEW BUSINESS: WB Al Schmidt advised the Scottish Rite Temple will delay their Annual reunion until fall this year. Al mentioned they plan to practice some new Degree work for interested Brothers. WB Roger Cathel reports York Rite will meet Friday and Saturday, March 26th and 27th at the Masonic Temple for degree work. This will include Council No. 4 and Black Eagle Commandery No. 8 Bodies. We received the distribution check from Grand Lodge for Paid Life Memberships (PLM) for 2009- $635.92. We currently have 23 paid life memberships in the amount of $13, 705.00. Investment Fund Market Value is $1,044,106.45 paying 4.42% interest as of 12/31/2009. The Education & Americanism night dinner is Monday, March 29th at 6:30 PM, $500 budgeted for scholarships. NEW BUSINESS: The Lorraine Enloe estate has made a donation to the Masonic Temple Association. Lorraine was 102 years old when she passed away last July. She and her husband, Brother Albert Enloe were custodians and lived in an apartment at the Masonic Temple at one time for 17 years. Brother Albert passed away in 1987. Son Howie is super chef at the Scottish Rite Temple and son Larry is a 50-year Life Member, retired living in Tucson, Arizona. NEW BUSINESS: B Mike Walker, JW Cascade #34 is doing a beautiful job refinishing the Wardens stations in the Lodge room. He has completed a marble inlay on the JW station, which will be a wonderful addition. WB Roger Cathel has drafted a Resolution to submit to the Montana Grand Lodge for consideration at the Annual Communication in Missoula this summer. The resolution would give Lodge Treasurers a vote at these meetings, and was approved for submission to the Grand Lodge by a vote of the members present. WM Shane Kohler announced he is planning to take new Master Mason, Orman Puckett to the Grand Lodge Communication in Missoula as his guest. Congratulations Orman, we are sure you will be very interested. READING OF BILLS: Payment of bills was delayed until the next meeting. They go on to list 18 different categories of Ladies that are eligible. Rainbow Girls and Jobs Daughters may join OES having attained 18 years of age.
OLD BUSINESS: The Bikes for Books is going well with 12 elementary schools contacted to participate in the program at the present time. We hope to be able to award at least 24 bikes to students in the reading program. The York Rite Temple has donated $300.00 to the program, where costs could reach up to $100.00 for each bike. NEW BUSINESS: The Brothers report WB Albin Johnson is fine and was at York Rite last Thursday evening. B John Deyo went out and plowed some snow for Worshipful Brother Al J., who lives a few miles out of town. B John was also able to get some sand to spread around the ice rink, our rear parking lot. READING OF COMMUNICATIONS: We received a very nice thank you letter from the (name omitted for reasons of courtesy) family for help from Euclid Lodge over the Holidays. WB Tom Duffy headed up this effort with cash donations from the Brothers, and assistance from several local organizations including donations on utility statements. This really helped out a Great Falls family with three children, where Mr. (name omitted for reasons of courtesy) was laid off from work in October, 2008. WB John Jones family sent a thank you card for flowers sent by the Lodge to Marilyns recent funeral services. OLD BUSINESS: Several of the Brothers attended installation ceremonies at 12:00 noon in the Civic Center for elected candidates from last November. B Chris Sizemore, Neighborhood Council #4 representative. WB Roger Cathel reports a very nice Christmas dinner at the Temple with over 40 in attendance. NEW BUSINESS: Masonic Education night with presentations by appendant bodies. First let me apologize to ladies who we sent invitations and werent allowed to visit a tyled Lodge. We should have given this much more thought. Scottish Rite- Robert Kampfer, History: Jack Waterfield, Child Language Center; Leonard Seymour & Robert Hanes. York Rite Alan Frohberg made a power-point slide presentation of the various York Rite bodies and history. Shrine John Jones noted their installation ceremonies were last night, with most expenses for travel to hospitals. Grotto Dan Schulz explained their charities and noted this is a fun organization for Masons. Eastern Star With the absence of OES ladies noted, John Deyo informed us about the organization.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: None. OBITUARIES: WB Archie J. Emry passed away November 17, 2009 at a local care facility in Great Falls. Archie was born September 22, 1915 in Brighton, Iowa. He served in the US Army in World War II and Korea, retiring as a master sergeant in 1961 at Fort Knox, KY. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1976. Worshipful brother Archie was raised in Euclid Lodge September 15, 1970 and served as Worshipful Master in 1977. He was active in several Masonic organizations including Jobs Daughters, York Rite and Al Bedoo Shrine Temple. He married his wife Grace in 1955 while stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. His wife passed away March, 2009. He was a member and Deacon of Christ Church on the Hill. A private family service will take place at a later date.

OLD BUSINESS: WB Roger Cathel advises the Masonic Temple Assn.s next project will be replacing the carpet in the foyer area in the basement where there has been some water damage from overflowing drains. Roger also will be available 5:30-6:30 on Mondays for mentoring of Brothers in the library. We still have an inventory of beautiful Euclid Jackets available for $125.00. Three sizes mfg. in Korea. NEW BUSINESS: WM Shane Kohler has scheduled a Master Mason Degree for our next Stated Meeting on November 17th. He asks that we invite the other local Lodges to attend the Degree. WM Shane and WB Tom Duffy presented WB Jerry DeMarco with a 25-year pin from the Montana Grand Lodge. WM Shane advises the Masters and Wardens group has agreed to fund a $1,000.00 scholarship from the Great Falls Lodges for a worthy student, to be presented at the Education & Amer. Night dinner. SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: WB John Jones wife Marilyn is entering the Hospice facility for care and treatment. We continue to keep Marilyn in our prayers for her lengthy illness. WB Bill Bailey has been very ill with the flu and pneumonia. This type of flu is very serious this year. Also B Bill Daniels has been in the hospital with the same flu we understand. OBITUARIES: B James Porters Father-in-law has passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah recently. WB George Pamenters wife Elsie passed away October 25th, with services in Stanford, MT Oct. 30th. WB Dan Foss Stansbury passed away October 3rd at his home in Tigard, Oregon., at the age of 80.He was raised in Euclid Lodge November 4, 1975 and Worshipful Master in 1980. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason and A Shriner. After retiring from trucking as an over the road driver for Consolidated Freightways, he devoted countless hours to volunteering at the Shriners Hospital for Children. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and is survived by his wife of 37 years, Charlene and eight children.

WM Shane Kohler of Euclid Lodge conducted the ceremony. There was an excellent turnout with Lodge Widows, Past Masters and 50-year members as guests. B John Deyo was chief chef in the kitchen with brothers serving the meal in the dining room. WM Shane presented last years WM John Jones with a beautiful hand crafted gift made by B John Deyo. Brother Johns gift was a wooden checkerboard layout of the Lodge room, with officers plaques at their stations in the room. Thanks John for all your time and effort on the dinner. 50-year member Albin Johnson was presented with a Euclid Hall of Fame plaque by WM Shane, as the first recipient of this award. Robert Oakland and Walter Mitchell were presented 50-year awards from the Grand Lodge of Montana by Sr. Gr. Deacon Tom Duffy and their Lodge brothers. Euclid Lodge members then adjourned to the Lodge room for a brief Stated Meeting.

OLD BUSINESS: B Dewey Goering discussed the need to start planning the Bikes for Books for next year. WB Roger Cathel and WB Alan Frohberg discussed the Temple Board newsletter and status of the elevator. Mentoring of Brothers needing to progress through their degrees was discussed.
NEW BUSINESS: WM Shane discussed his desire to have a rusty trowel program to encourage membership. He also has scheduled the Harvest Dinner this year for October 6th. Invitations with RSVP by Sept. 26th. B Dewey Goering and WB Roger Cathel will put together a program on the Master Builder Program.

NEW BUSINESS: We wish to thank WB Joe Heyde, Secretary of Cascade Lodge No. 34, for submitting a timely detailed pro-rated statement of expenses for the Great Falls Lodges from July1, 2008 to June 31, 2009. There were 443 total members of the three Great Falls Lodges shown on the statement, as of December 31, 2008. WB Walter Breuning will be celebrating his 113th birthday as the worlds oldest man, September 21, 2009. WB Walter resides at the Rainbow Retirement Center, with reservations suggested if you wish to attend. Memorial services were held at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Highland Cemetary. Her husband Albert Enloe was a member of Euclid Lodge and passed away in 1987, after 61 years of marriage. Her sons Larry and Howie are also Euclid Lodge members. Bill also mentioned Cascade Lodge is pro-rating Lodge, with Euclid Lodges year starting on July 1st, 2009. Thanks to the WB Roger, B Dewey and assistants for preparing and serving a great meal. Guest speaker for the Schools was Mrs. Ruth Eucker, Asst. Supt. for Elem. Education. She gave a wonderful presentation, complete with a slide show. Also thanks to the three student speeches on Education and Americanism. We could be reimbursed for 50% of expenses for a maximum of $750 for bikes. Last year the program was very well supported by the Lodge and the Great Falls School system. The finance committee advises will do the audit, which also accompanies our annual report to the Montana Grand Lodge. The Annual Report to the Grand Lodge, due by March 15th, should be completed by our next meeting. Also B Leonard Glenn Seymour and B William Edward Smith, Delta Lodge 128, were raised as Master Masons as courtesy work requested by their Lodge. The candidates were escorted into the Lodge by the Senior Deacon and Stewards. WM John Jones gave the Obligation to the candidates at the Altar. WB Roger Cathel then presented the Working Tools to the candidates in the East.
The second section of the Degree proceeded with WB Al Schmidt in the East as King Solomon. The Brothers then performed the Trestle Board Scene with the candidates. The Charge was given by B Dewey Goering. Lecture Questions and Answers were given by WB Roger Cathel and B Brian Lundquist. B Larry Foose then concluded the Degree work with a Slide Lecture presentation for the candidates. WM John Jones then proceeded with the business meeting for the evening.

Jack is the current Treasurer at the Scottish Rite Temple in Great Falls. We will send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery. OBITUARIES: B Victor L. Bersch passed away recently with memorial services in Great Falls and dinner at the Scottish Rite Temple. Brother Victor was well known in Great Falls in the restaurant business for many years. Chester and Helen usually winter in San Diego where he is a Past Master of San Diego Lodge No. 35. Chester is a skilled craftsman and presented a beautiful gavel from the Great Falls Lodges to MWGM Robert A. Coleman on his recent visit to Great Falls. B Harold Jones is in rehab after a stroke. (I am not sure of his Lodge affiliation). B Rod Johnson of Euclid Lodge continues to have migraine headaches. B Rod is a terrific author with several western stories/ novels about his early day Greatgrandfathers settling in Montana. OBITUARIES: B Tom Brannons Son-Inlaw has commited suicide and our condolences to the family. B Tom became a dual member of Euclid Lodge in 2005 from Knapp Lodge #462, Berwick, PA. He married Ann Harsbarger in 1970. Bro. Carter served in World War II with the 82nd Airborne Division. Keith Head Instr. and Members and Visitors as per Register. =========================================================================== The Lodge was opened on the Entered Apprentice Degree by WM Alan Frohberg at 7:30 P.M. for the regular stated summer meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. The meeting proceeded with conferral of the Entered Apprentice Degree for Mr. David Richard Foscue and Mr. Jim Bruce Shigley. With B Dewey Goering in the East, the candidates were escorted singly into the Lodge by the Senior Deacon and Stewards. B. Dewey Goering then proceeded to give the Obligation to the candidates. WB Roger Cathel then presented the Lambskin Aprons to the candidates at the Altar. With acting WM John Jones now in the East, B Paul Robinson presented the Working Tools to the candidates in the East. WM Alan Frohberg gave the Charge to the candidates in the East. B Larry Foose and B Brian Lundquist recited Questions and Answers for the candidates. B Larry Foose made the Slide Lecture presentation for the candidates, completing the degree work. THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA was presented at the Altar with all present reciting the pledge of allegiance. THE FOLLOWING PAST MASTERS were present: John Jones, Roger Cathel, Joe Heyde, Chester Rogers and Keith Head. Visitors for the evening were Jahrod Matloch, Northern Lights Lodge No. 8; Keith Johnson, San Diego Lodge No. 35 and David Hughes, Magnolia Lodge No. 120, Biloxi Mississippi. READING OF MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as posted on motion of B Shane Kohler, seconded by B Dewy Goering and passed by vote of the members present. READING OF COMMUNICATIONS: A letter was read from WM Alan Frohberg with and invitation to the Masonic Family organizations to attend a planning meeting to better coordinate communication between their groups. The first meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in the basement of the Temple.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: A book to keep better track of the brothers involved in coaching candidates was discussed. A motion to this effect was made by WM Alan, seconded by B Dewey Goering and approved. WB Keith Head discussed the need to support the Demolay Chapter here in Great Falls. They need more membership of interested boys, ages 14 to 20 to meet effectively as a chapter at present. WB Roger Cathel advises the Hassan Grotto will be meeting this Thursday evening at the Temple. Roger mentioned WB Albin Johnson will be joining the Grotto, after it has been rechartered. WB Al was a previous member when the Grotto was active in Great Falls 30 or 40 years ago.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: None. OBITUARIES: B Kenneth H. Kittams passed away in Spokane, Wahington February 19, 2008. He was born in Belt, Montana July 12, 1914 and was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in Euclid Lodge in 1962. His occupation was as a U.S. Post Office supervisor. He became a Paid Life Member of Euclid Lodge in1990.

OLD BUSINESS: Montana Grand Lodge was held at the Helena Civic Center June 26 thru 28. At least three members of Euclid Lodge were able to attend the ceremonies. Euclid Lodge received their Master Builders Award for about 10 or 12 years in a row. The Grand Masters Agenda Items on proficiencies were left to the individual Lodges. The per capita fees to Grand Lodge will be raised from $22.00 to $25.00 next year. WB Roger Cathel reports 150-200 people attended the free 4th of July picnic held in the basement dining room. Several of the Brothers marched in the 4th of July parade along with other Masonic bodies. NEW BUSINESS: None. REPORTS ON PETITIONS: The report on the petition for Jim Bruce Shigley was unanimously approved for membership in Euclid Lodge by the Investigating Committee. The report on Mr. S. H. was delayed. BALLOTING: Mr. Jim Bruce Shigley was approved to receive the Degrees in Masonry from Euclid Lodge. He will be notified by the Secretary. SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: None.
